As part of Fribourg International’s 27th Annual General Meeting, around 20 members visited Liebherr Machines Bulle SA, which develops and manufactures diesel and gas engines, injection systems as well as hydraulic components and splitter boxes.
Founded in 1949 by Hans Liebherr and established in Bulle since 1978, the family-owned business comprises 130 companies worldwide. It employs some 47,000 people, including more than 1,500 in Bulle. In 2018, the company achieved a total turnover of more than 10 billion euros, to which the Bulle site contributed 559 million.
Retaining 55% shareholder equity, the Liebherr Group benefits from total freedom in its decision-making. Reflecting its strong commitment to the region, the company has invested more than $200 million into its Planchy site in recent years, creating and securing many jobs.
